Service Description

This advanced wheel session will focus on you creating your own set of dishes. This can be more challenging than it sounds. Making pieces that coordinate, what design, look and colors need to be decided. This can be executed by many different techniques, carving, sgraffito, slip-trailing, glazing and additive clay altering. This session is just the beginning of creating your set, as it is likely that you will need many sessions to complete even a full set of 4 (Bowls, Plates, Mugs, etc.) You decide if you will focus on multiples of one items, ( ie. 4-6 dinner plates) or if you want to approach it with one of each item of the desired items. This class is 8 weeks long, once a week, for 2 hours (each class will be at least 2 hours but some projects might need more time and will extend into more than 1 class day.) This includes clean up time. 2 Make -up classes are available, if needed. This is recommended for students that have already taken at least two pottery wheel courses and/or are proficient on the wheel. We be working with a variety of mid-range stonewares. The cost for these projects the cost is $365 plus tax and includes use of up to 30 pounds of stoneware clay, use of tools, glazing and firings. These projects may involve Handbuilding techniques and other materials. (Note: Additional bag of clay can be purchased for $35 and pieces can be fired for $12 a pound at greenware stage) Currently we are taking 7 students this time for each class, (ages 14 and up). There is a 5 person minimum before a class will be scheduled for each time slot. Please also let us know of a day and time that you need if it is not listed. NOTE: Since we are charge a credit card processing fee the moment you pay, there will be a $10 cancellation fee, should you need to cancel before the 1st day of the course starting. After that, the cost of the course is not refundable, but we can apply it to a future course or you can transfer it to a friend or family member.
